Drilling and blasting process

Drilling and Blasting Process

Underground, the work process begins with the carefully planned drilling of the blast holes and accompanying relief holes: the former create the receiving spaces for the blasting sequence, the latter release rock stresses and control the fracture pattern. The subsequent blasting loosens the rock in a controlled manner, followed by salvaging with loading and removal of the broken material for processing or disposal. In salt mines, loose salt is selectively stripped and removed to create clean, load-bearing surfaces; cavities and joints are then stabilised using temporary and permanent measures - from supports and anchors to injections and shotcrete. All steps are carried out according to geotechnical planning, under strict safety and environmental protection requirements and only by qualified personnel.
